St. Mary's Visitation School has a consultative advisory board, known as the Local Consultative Advisory Board (LCAB), which consists of school parents and parishioners. The LCAB is founded on the belief in the power and importance of shared leadership, where parents, faculty, administration, and the community collaborate to advise on school policies in alignment with the school’s mission and the policies of the Diocese of Kalamazoo.
The primary role of the LCAB is to support and assist the school’s leadership team, including the canonical administrator (pastor) and the principal. Board members contribute their experience and expertise to enhance the decision-making process in key areas such as policy planning, finance, public relations/marketing, curriculum assessment, and principal evaluation.
LCAB meeting dates are listed on the school calendar, available on the "parents" tab of the school website. Guests are welcome to attend open LCAB meetings. Occasionally, some meetings may be closed to discuss sensitive matters such as finances, salaries, and staffing. If you would like to attend a meeting, the LCAB bylaws require guests to notify the LCAB chairperson, principal, or pastor at least 24 hours in advance. Additionally, if you wish to address the LCAB during a meeting, you must contact the LCAB chairperson, principal, or pastor at least 24 hours prior to the meeting to be added to the agenda.
Through the work of its committees, the LCAB helps guide policy development, set direction, and make recommendations. If you are interested in serving on the LCAB and contributing to the school community, please contact the pastor or principal.
